If you have learned that you are pregnant and raising a child does not feel possible right now, adoption may have come to mind.

You might question whether it is a practical option or how the process would work.

Adoption is a legitimate path for women who want to continue their pregnancy but are not prepared to parent.

At Alpha Pregnancy Care Center, we offer free, confidential appointments where you can discuss your options and get accurate information before deciding.

Your Role in Modern Adoption

Many women believe that placing a child for adoption means giving up all involvement, but that is not the case.

Today, the birth mother plays a vital role in the process, including selecting the adoptive family and deciding how much contact she would like to maintain.

There are three types of adoption plans:

Open adoption: You have direct contact with the adoptive family, such as exchanging phone numbers, full names, addresses, and emails.

Semi-open adoption: You can communicate with your child and the adoptive family, while a third party, typically the adoption agency, handles all correspondence.

Closed adoption: All identifying information remains confidential, and there is no contact. Some women select this plan when they desire complete privacy.

Keep in mind that contacting an adoption agency to get more information does not mean you have to commit to anything. This is your decision, and you alone get to select a path that aligns with your goals and wishes.

Will Adoption Cost Me Anything?

As the birth mother, you would never pay any adoption-related or legal fees. Pregnancy-related medical expenses, including prenatal care and delivery, are typically covered by the adoption agency or adoptive family.

You may also qualify for additional support with rent, groceries, and maternity clothing.
