What Do You Think About Parenting?
Many women think it’s impossible to be a parent at this stage in their life, but you would be surprised at how many resources are available. Together with our community, we can address your parenting concerns and show you how to become a successful parent.
Welcoming a child into the world means a lot of changes. Some changes are big, and some are small. But in between the excitement and challenges of parenting is the special bond you have with your child.
Do You Have Questions?
We imagine questions and concerns are swirling around in your head. Are you wondering about these issues?
- Can I be a single parent?
- What if the baby’s father wants to co-parent or get married?
- How can I continue my education?
- What if I don’t have the financial support I need?
- Who will help me take care of my baby while I work?
All of these are excellent questions, and we want to help you get the answers you need.
Parenting Support
We offer free parenting education and resources at the Care Center. Our classes cover prenatal care, childbirth, and caring for a newborn. We also offer classes on healthy relationships, job training, and budgeting.
You can join our “Earn While You Learn” parenting program if you participate in our classes. Each class you complete gives you credits to “purchase” maternity and baby items.
Community Support
Kentucky offers K-TAP (the Kentucky Transitional Assistance Program) provides single Moms and their dependent children with financial and medical assistance. They also assist you in finding jobs and job training.
The Kentucky Food Benefits/EBT helps with food purchases, and other programs like the Kentucky Medical Program (KMS) and Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) assist with medical expenses.
